About ForkTheWire, About Me

ForkTheWire
Hi! I’m Paul, but you can also call me Adrian; both are my real names and I don’t mind either.
Deep down I’m an admirer of things, a curious and sceptic mind. To my earliest memories I’ve always sought to understand the language of things that mesmerised my gaze; moments in time that gave me a certain joy of appreciation.
Quite early, I figured I could create similar but different moments by making my own things. Through creation I enriched my perspective, gained discipline and independence. Ever fascinated by the miraculous marriage of functionality, aesthetics and communication; art and engineering became prominent to my attention at a young age.
Significant influences of institutional and non-institutional knowledge and experience (Not in Chronological Order):
-Took classes of Taekwondo for ten years (Yes, I do have a black belt..).
-Art classes in school and outside of school, and forever practised drawing/painting and crafts.
-I had the privilege when growing up to be close with various animals, and have frequent rural area visits and stays. These experiences filled me up with tremendous joy and respect.
-I gave computer lessons and translated websites for a while.
-Took classical guitar lessons for four years; courses in music theory, film music, in both school and university. I was in a choir for about two years. Since forever a musicphile and an audiophile; did music composition and production with support in the beginning, from my beloved teachers and more experienced friends.
-Recorded and produced songs for other people for a while.
-Classes of psychology and sociology in school and university.
-Electronics engineering at university, and some further hardware and programming research (mainly microcontrollers) on my own as a hobby. I now only consider these subjects if I see potential value in assisting my work in music, or my other creative endeavours.
-Film, Photography and Graphic Design, basically were built upon my other skills.
In the present I design images, sounds, make music, work on this website, and take care of plants. In my spare time I do translations for MX Linux applications, and try to create helpful notes about things I have found useful. The concept of “ForkTheWire” is to host and connect my various works and notes; you can think of this website as the central nervous system of my online exhibition. Ultimately this is an experiment to potentially give me the option to change my career trajectory. Thank you for your interest!
